About Me!

me

This blog is my story. Its filled with random life events from a NOLA girl at heart living in Texas.   My head is filled with ideas about food, books, music, travel, gardening and buying and selling junk and photography.

I am still trying to decide what I want to do when I grow up. Currently my 9-5 is my dream job!  It keeps my head spinning. I am a book and gift buyer, volunteer organizer and ministry leader all rolled into one. I am Loving life…Living the dream…Reflection!

In my spare time I am a dealer at a local antique mall. Lucky for me they allow me to buy junk and sell antiques!  Check out my handi-work!

My husband and I are best friends and we dream of one day retiring and running a B&B in the Texas Hill Country or the Colorado Mountains…

I think social media is the best invention since the Slinky…My world is a more colorful place because of it…I hope you will add your color to my world.

  1. Jeanne,

Recently you commented on my post 8 Tips To Surviving Your Dysfunctional Family During The Holidays. I just wanted to check back and see how your holidays went. Also, keep writing. Your stats are bound to increase!

Hi Brian, Thanks for stopping by the blog. The Christmas Holiday was wonderful, thank you for asking. We celebrated Christmas with family on 5 different occasions. As dysfunctional as families can be, and ours is no exception, everyone was on their best behavior this year! As for the stats on the blog…all things worth having are worth waiting for, right? Right! Happy New Year!

  2. Jeanne,
    I love your ABOUT.
    Your words are ageless.

But I am content because I know the beginning and I know the end and I know who wrote the story line that goes in-between and I am thrilled to be part of such an amazing story. My Story!!!

    Take care,
    Charlie C.

    PS: I blog a lot: http://www.cbcourtois.newsvine.com
and here of course. I am an open book on Facebook; type Charlie Courtois in Google, Yahoo, in any one of them. I write this because I can’t seem to get my Word Press page right yet.

Charlie, Thanks for your kind words. I discovered that my life was part of a story last January when our Teaching Pastor shared a series titled “Story, every life is a story.” Sometimes we can’t see the forest for the trees. Too busy looking for the bigger picture when the perfect picture is right in front of you.. At least that was the case for me. Since then I look at everything just a little differently. I appreciate the little things a whole lot more. I am thankful for the story that is my life. God’s grace!

  3. Hey Jeanne,
I don’t why I hadn’t seen this post before. I get jillions I donn’t want to see, and this one I missed. Oh’well. Take care, Charlie

  7. Thanks for sharing your story. I struggle, too, with remembering that God has a part for me in his story. It’s exciting, scary for me sometimes but be comforted in those times of uncertainty – because he’s not uncertain one bit!

    • Lucinda, thank you for your words of encouragement. It is very easy to get caught up in our “junk” and forget who is really in control. Thanks for stopping by the blog.

  8. Hey, Jeanne! Thanks for becoming the first subscriber to my own The Dirty Lady’s Garden Gazette! I’m so glad you subscribed, because it gave me the chance to find your own blog. What fantastic photos. And I am so jealous of your harvest, particularly in light of the ridiculously disabling weather we’ve had thus far this season up in Mid-Missouri. I miss my Texas Gardens!

Anyway, I’ve included you in my Blogroll so my Texan friends and relatives can read, learn, and celebrate. I look forward to updates on the Texan garden season, myself. It’s making me homesick for the Lone Star.

    Happy gardening!

    • Hello Dovey, thanks for stopping by the blog. Yes we are very fortunate in that we have had cool mornings and evenings and warm days. I am looking forward to following the Dirty Lady’s Garden Gazette!

  9. “I know that God has written into my story.” Love those words. It means a lot to somebody like me who struggles each day to be a better person despite of the odds around me. We live in a tougher, more challenging times. Economically, it’s scary what the future holds for all of us. But just like you, I know that God is faithful and he will always walk with us no matter what. I’m happy to know another Texan. I think we may even be closer in geographic distance thus its so easy for me to relate to a lot of your posts. God bless you and your family.

  10. Hello! Thanks for the follow! I have to say I LOVE the pic of your little dogs. AWWWEE!! :-) I can’t wait to dive into your blog! Happy Thursday!!

    • Yes, we have a mutual friend in the island traveler. I am looking forward to getting to know another Texas blogger. Who knows maybe there will be a gatheirng of Texas bloggers in a park or on a river somewhere deep in the heart of Texas.

  12. “I do wonder what else He has planned for my story. But I am content because I know the beginning and I know the end and I know who wrote the story line that goes in-between” – loved those lines! Found your page from Misswhiplash’s recommendation. I’ll be stopping by again! Denise

  13. Can’t remember if I told you I was born in Texas – Beaumont! My Dad’s brother was a United Methodist pastor in the Louisiana Conference, and we frequently made the (short) trip to Louisiana to visit him and my cousins. They served a large church in Metairie for a few years, so I got to visit one of my favorite cities – NO – a few times. Still too hot/humid there for me. Once we moved to New England when I was twelve, I became a “Yankee-weather” girl! I didn’t like Beaumont’s weather either! Where in TX are you?

    • Hi Paula, Our home is halfway between the Houston Texas Medical Center and Surfside Beach. We live in the country surrounded by cattle farms. Our yard has visitors everyday…deer, owls, armadillo and rabbits. I have never visited New England but I would love to visit during the fall someday.

  14. What I miss most of all are the bluebonnets and Indian paintbrush. Such lovely memories of driving by and walking through the fields of them in and around Austin.

    • Thanks for stopping by my little piece of the blogasphere…When our Pastor shared the lesson titled “Our Story” it changed how I look at all that happens in and around my life.
