Frozen Fountain and Palm Trees…whats next…S.N.O.W.?

Will it or won’t it…S.N.O.W. …@ my house?!

While the rest of the country is trying to dig out from Snowmegeddon, I am anxiously awaiting the arrival of what will amount to a few snow flurries and maybe an inch of accumulated snow.

If it happens…I mean the snow…it will be the third year in a row that Houston has been lightly dusted by the white stuff.

What is it about the possibility of snow that causes an entire city to become giddy…

The weather man is almost beside himself…SNOWWATCH2011!!!

I have been watching the animated weather map on my iPhone.  Although I can see the wintry mix approaching on the screen I am beginning to doubt the predictions.  Even though the weather people have said that the snow will not arrive until well into the night I am expecting it to be falling from the sky each time I look out the window.

#1 Why am I looking for the snow at 2pm when I have been clearly told it will be 2am?

#2 Why am I doubting that it will happen when I can actually see it on the radar screen?

#3  Why did I buy groceries like I am going to be snowed in like so many others across the country?

It’s the…. a.n.t.i.c.i.p.a.t.i.o.n. of what is to come.

How different would life be if we anticipated every single day with such excitement?  If  every time we looked out the window we were expecting something as beautiful and serene as falling snow.  What would it be like to catch ourselves smiling for no apparent reason?  What if we welcomed each day with a heart filled with joy and laughter?  What would it life be like?

Now faith is confidence in what we hope for and assurance about what we do not see. Hebrews 11:1

  1. The photos are incredible! Will the palm trees survive? Looks to cold for snow…brrrrrrrrrrrrr

    • The temps have been hovering between the low 20’s and the low 30’s for a couple of days. The palms will suffer and probably have to have all of their fronds cut back but most of them will make it. As for the snow, the weather man is predicting 1-3 inches overnight. I am hoping for just enough snow to get a few good pics. Then I am ready for Spring! What’s the weather like in Portugal this time of the year?

      • Hi Jeanne,
        Sorry for late response
In some areas of Portugal they had snow. Down in the Algarve we had frost for the first time in 4yrs. It can be warm during the day 19C and then temps can plummet at night to just above freezing. Last year in rained almost continuously for 3 months and as you can imagine I had cabin fever by the end of that time.
        Roll on summer!

  2. Wow!
I never saw Houston look like that!
I used to visit Foley’s monthly, and I can’t ever remember ice like that, much less snow!
I guess I never went in winter. Can’t remember.
    Take care, Charlie

    • Hi Charlie, yes Houston had its bout with old man winter this past week, but it all turned out ok. I hope you and the Mrs. are staying warm. Ciao Charlie

  3. I love the variety in photos here. Awesome Jeanne!
