January Photo a Day 2013: Water

Day 11. Water: Perhaps it’s the beach, a river, water in a glass, the bath {keep it PG!} or even the rain.

Friday found us heading out on a road trip…We woke to a beautiful clear cool morning.  We packed the truck, loaded the dogs and headed out…Our day was filled with visions of water in many forms…we saw clouds, mist, rain, swollen rivers, fog and downpours!

Leaving Houston, Texas we crossed over the ship channel bridge and the San Jacinto River.

About half way through the State of Louisiana we crossed the Atchafalaya River Basin. We were starting to catch up with the weather front that had dumped more than 9″ of rain in the area.

Once arriving in Baton Rouge, Louisiana we headed East on I-12…We caught the front.

On any given day this would be a creek bed with a trickle of water…One creek overflowed and met up with the next creek for miles and miles.  The water was swift and menacing.

We had a break in the rain on Saturday but on Sunday it was back with a vengeance as we headed back West…

Water, water every where!

What do the prompts mean?

There are no rules when playing along with photo a day, you can be creative as you like! Interpret the prompt as you please. For those that need a little help, some more suggested details about each prompt are below.

12. Surprise: I love when I stumble across coins when I’m walking. It’s a lovely surprise. That would be a lucky photo for me. Can you think of a way to capture surprise?
13. Circle: Look as you go about today for things shaped in circles. Is it the tyres on a bus? A big sign? Or something else?
14. Something yellow: Find something yellow in your travels today and take a photo.

October Photo a Day Challenge: Lunchtime

There was a time, a few years ago when I ate lunch out at really nice restaurants every day of the week.  I loved it!  But those days are long past…I know longer work or live in the BIG City and I love it!  Now, most days I pack my lunch.  This process usually starts out like this, staring into the fridge….Will it be this?

Or will it be this?

What did lunchtime look like for you?

Tomorrow’s October Photo a Day Challenge is…This happened today: What’s something that happened today? Shoot it and share it.

Time 2 Bait the Trap…

The Hummer’s have been humming around our house for at least a month.  Filling their tiny little bellies with the nectar from the plumbago and knockout roses.  However, the roses have almost played out and the plumbago has gotten unruly.  Both will receive a much-needed pruning this weekend.  This will cut back on the sweet nectar available for the hummer’s, so in order to get a closer view of these beauties….its time to bait the trap!

This past week was spent getting ready for a special weekend at church. Not that they aren’t all special in some way or another, because they are. But this weekend we were going to take communion as a church. We take communion corporately once each quarter, which is a time of reflection in itself.  However, we were trying out a new setup in the auditorium and I was overseeing the project.
There were many hands and feet that worked together to make the communion experience special and memorable. Pastor Tim brought the message, the Worship songs were perfect for the moment, the volunteers served selflessly and the staff filled in the gaps. We were many parts but we were one body!

And at the end of the day on Saturday God painted a glorious sunset that said… “Well done my good and faithful servant” …lets do it again tomorrow and we did!

Today’s photo prompt is BIG! This is a really BIG building being moved from where it was built to its new home site, less than a 1/4 mile…It took about 24 hours using remote controlled transports.
