Green…

Our pomelo trees are heavy with fruit.  The fruits are probably weighing a pound each but they are still green and growing.  When the fruits are ready for harvest the skin will become pale green to yellow and  they will weigh as much as 4lbs.  I am looking forward to enjoying the fruits our labor…

One in a Million…

It is estimated that approximately 3 million people visit Lake Tahoe each year. Emerald Bay is one of the most photographed areas of the lake.  Therefore, I am certain that this photo I took on my recent visit is one in a million

Dangerously Beautiful…

We get our share of backyard visitors…Since the very first day we visited the property where we now live, I have affectionately called our little piece of heaven the “hundred acre woods”. This reference comes from the adventures of Christopher Robin and Winnie the Pooh.  Christopher Robins woodland friends consist of Winnie the Pooh, Tigger, Eeyore, Piglet, Rabbit, Owl, Kanga and little roo.

The very first day we visited the property we were greeted by large Owls, rabbits and piglets.  We are regularly visited by neighbors on horseback, Whitetail Deer and their offspring, armadillo, opossum, countless birds and an assortment of snakes.

But over the last few weeks we have been visited by one very beautiful but very dangerous Tigger….a Texas Bobcat.  She has been skirting the woods that border our home, probably hunting for food for her litter.  She doesn’t seem to be concerned with us…as we have seen her at different times of the day.  I hope she continues to keep her distance because this momma will protect her litter if a threat becomes apparent.

Baby Birds…

The wren babies are getting their feathers….Their birds nest is in a bucket of fake flowers that was a door decoration.  Look closely, how many babies do you see?

New Habits…

New habits emerge like a budding flower…creeping up from a hidden place, reaching for new heights, slowly opening up, day by day, changing from a tiny bud into a full-blooming beautiful flower for everyone to enjoy.
