The Gift of Grace…

When I first believed and accepted Jesus Christ as my Lord and Savior I received a gift…The gift of Grace…God’s riches at Christ’s expense. I asked for forgiveness and acceptance. I turned away from my old ways and chose a new path.

Although I did not feel worthy of receiving such an incredible gift…the gift of grace.  It was given to me, unconditionally.  No strings attached…no further requirement on my part.  It was and is a free gift.

As I have grown in my faith I now understand a little bit about grace.  Along the way I have learned to extend the gift of grace to those around me.  It is often those who least deserve the gift who need it the most.(I was one of those people)  Therefore, it is given without the expectation of getting anything in return.

Sometimes there are individuals in our life that require extra grace, sometimes I can be one of those people.  Nonetheless, grace is required, grace is given.  I am thankful everyday for the grace that is afforded me by those in my life, no strings attached.

Ephesians 2:8-9 “For it is by grace you have been saved, through faith–and this not from yourselves, it is the gift of God– not by works, so that no one can boast.”

What Is Grace?

What is grace? Grace is love that seeks you out when you have nothing to give in return. Grace is love coming at you that has nothing to do with you. Grace is being loved when you are unlovable. The cliché definition of grace is “unconditional love.” It is a true cliché, for it is a good description of the thing…Let’s go a little further, though.

Grace is a love that has nothing to do with you, the beloved. It has everything and only to do with the lover. Grace is irrational in the sense that it has nothing to do with weights and measures. It has nothing to do with my intrinsic qualities or so-called “gifts” (whatever they may be). It reflects a decision on the part of the giver (the one who loves) in relation to the receiver (the one who is loved) that negates any qualifications the receiver may personally hold…Grace is one-way love.

T is for Trending…(a-z challenge)!

I have linked up with Tossing it Out who is hosting the Blogging from A-Z April Blogging Challenge.  It’s a post a day for the month of April excluding Sundays.  You can learn more about it by clicking on the “A-Z Button” in the right side bar.

I am a couple of days late with my post for the letter “T” and “U” is on the calendar for today. So here is to the letter “T”!

I am somewhat fascinated with what’s (T)rending on my yahoo and twitter homepages. Although I am rarely if ever interested enough to click on one of the topics and see where it takes me.  However I am curious as to why people are  searching for information on these particular people or topics.   I know the list is generated by the increase in hits on a particular topic.  I know that people’s internet searches are influenced by the latest news reports or talk shows.

The following list is from April 24th, 2011, Easter Sunday.

  1. Jim Belushi
  2. Lindsay Lohan
  3. Prince William
  4. Dev Patel
  5. Tablets
  1. Frank McCourt
  2. James Franco
  3. Metallica
  4. Retirement planning
  5. Easter

I do see how people would be interested in Prince William, Retirement Planning and Easter but Metallica, Really!  All of this talk about trending gave me pause to think what exactly is trending in my life right now.

  1. Easter
  2. Gasoline Prices
  3. Gardening
  4. The Economy
  5. Texas is in a drought
  6. Buying a new car
  7. Turning 5o
  8. Losing weight
  9. Eating better
  10. Menopause

Whats trending in your life?

(E) is for Easter (a-z challenge)

I love Easter!  I love that it signifies the changing of the season, from the harshness of winter to the lushness of spring.  I love the colors of Easter; pastel blue, green, pink and purple.  I love the thoughts of fuzzy bunnies and cute little chicks.  I especially enjoy all of the wonderfully delicious chocolate candy that lines the center aisle of the grocery store.  I love to see families all dressed up in their Easter Sunday best!

Traditionally I have purchased a new outfit for just this occasion.  I have many memories of dyeing hard-boiled eggs, filling baskets with fake grass, chocolate bunnies, sweet marshemellowy peeps and trinkets.  I have eaten my share of baked ham, potato salad and stuffed eggs for Easter Sunday dinner.  And I have hidden and hunted dozens upon dozens of easter eggs.

I enjoy Easter but I celebrate Resurrection Sunday!

The reason Christians celebrate the Easter season is to commemorate Jesus’ death on the cross. Through His death, burial and resurrection, He paid the penalty for our sins, therefore purchasing for all who believe in Him eternal life in Christ Jesus.

Why I choose to celebrate?  I believe!!!

On Easter Sunday, Christians celebrate the resurrection of the Lord, Jesus Christ.
