I Love You More Today…

Babe, I love you more today than yesterday but not as much as tomorrow!

I met my husband in 1986.  His best friend introduced us.  Our first date was to see the new movie Top Gun with Tom Cruise.  We were married on February 14, 1989, Valentines Day!

To my husband of 23 years…

I love you with all my heart.

You are my Best Friend…

my soul mate…

my hero!

You are the peanut butter to my jelly…

the cream to my coffee!!!

You complete me!!

To my husband of 23 years…

You make me laugh with your silly jokes…

And cry with your thoughtful gifts.

A touch of your hand makes my heart skip a beat…

Your kisses take my breath away!

Your generous nature leaves me speechless…

Your love of family warms my heart!

You fill my life with love…

God created you for me and me for you!

I wanna grow old with you!

Happy Anniversary!!!

Happy Endings for Valentines Day!

I can watch a movie with a happy ending over and over again.  Between FX and the Lifetime Channel, this weekend before Valentines Day, is filled with one happy ending after another

Every story has a beginning, a middle and an end. Stories contain context, conflict, decisions and resolution.  We get caught up in the story line of the movie…wanting to believe the best of each character in the movie. Cheering the hero and heroine along…We are always hoping for a wonderfully happy ending

Our lives are own story line, our own movie…We head off in one direction with a plan in hand.  Not long after heading out we hit a roadblock.  The roadblock causes us to take a detour.  The detour takes us down a long and winding road.  The road is filled with valleys and mountain peaks.  It takes us over bridges and through tunnels.  All the while we can see our original path off in the distance.  We continue to strive for some semblance of our original plan.  At some point we realize that the detours and distractions have become part of life’s plan.  Our new path is leading us to our own Happy Ending!  Be the hero or heroine of your own life story!  Choose a Happy Ending!

Each of the movies listed below are filled with conflict, decisions and resolutions…it’s what makes them interesting to me.  And the fact that they all have a Happy Ending!

Valentines Day Subway Art from designs by cp.blogspot.com

I love all of the word signs that are floating around in th etsy shops and on Pinterest!  They are fun and thought-provoking.  I have been inspired to make my own.  Now to decide… which one will it be?

Red Velvet Week-Red Velvet Crepes from Taste and Tell Blog

Red Velvet cake is my favorite cake…I love it in it’s purest form, made from scratch, 3 layers with cream cheese icing and a sprinkle of pecans.  I will take it in little bite size pieces called cake balls.  I will indulge in a cupcake and yes I will even take it as a crepe.  My fondest memory of the lovely red velvet cake is that our wedding cake was red velvet with cream cheese icing.  Delicious!

I think this looks like a raspberry cookie sandwich.   It reminds me of a moonpie…don’t ask me how this pretty pink concoction could remind me of a chocolate moonpie.  Because I don’t have an answer..it just does!  I have loved raspberries ever since the anesthesiologist hand fed them to me after my son was born.  As I lay exhausted from the long delivery and I was on the verge of giving up…He told me if I could/would push a little more he would retrieve the raspberries from his lunch for me.  I did!  He did!  Our son was born @ 4:20am!  Then I ate raspberries!

I really like finding new ways to use ordinary everyday things.  A candelabra for a jewelry holder, individual yogurt containers for garden seedlings and tin cans for flower vases.

Dr. Oz’s Tart Cherry Smoothie (Sleep While You Slim)

Cherries are one of my favorite fruits.  Come to think of it most of my favorite fruits are dark in color.  I enjoy cherries, red grapes, blueberries and blood oranges.  I really like the idea that I can have a cherry smoothie in the evening and  it keeps your metabolism working while you sleep.

from skinnytaste.com

This scrumptious delicacy incorporates all of my favorite desserts into one.  I will make individual red velvet heart-shaped cupcakes drizzled with an intense dark chocolate syrup  topped with raspberries and a little chocolate bow and I will make it skinny!

Happy Valentines Day!  I hope Pinterest will inspire you in some way…

learn a new language in 15 minutes or less…

Do you know that everyone has a love language specific to them?

There are 5 love languages and we all identify primarily with one of the 5: words of affirmation, quality time, receiving gifts, acts of service and/or physical touch. Whats your love language?

I was reminded of my love language earlier this week when Emily over at My Pajama Days, penned an open letter of support and encouragement, a love letter,  on her blog.  She wrote to her writer friends and fellow bloggers and readers.  She did not mention anyone by name but when I read it I felt as though she were writing directly to me.  She is a gifted writer.  She writes from her heart and seems to rarely hold back. I wish I could write would write were brave enough to write like Emily.

Since reading Emily’s post I have thought about the feeling I got from the words in her letter.  I was touched and encouraged. Why?  Because she was speaking my language.

My love language is … words of affirmation.  If you pat me on the back, give me a thumbs up or even just click the like button on my  blog you are speaking my language.

Then I had one of those lightbulb moments!  Now I understand why I check my blog stats several times a day.   In my mind, the numbers equate to likeability which is as close to words of affirmation as you may get on a blog.  I mostly have blog stalkers, you know individuals who pop in and out without so much as a peep.    I don’t know if the individuals who click on my blog posts actually read them or not.  But they were here and in my world it means they “liked”  me my post on some level.  I know that seems silly, really it does, but I can’t help how it makes me feel.  I will never forget the first time someone clicked the like button on one of my posts…lets just say it was a stellar moment.   Also when I had my first comment from a total stranger that was like winning the lottery for me.

Recently I joined the postaweek2011 challenge and began meeting up with other like-minded bloggers.  Little by little my community of friendly bloggers has grown.  I am getting an almost daily dose of affirmation from the likes of Piglet in Portugal, Papa Joe, Mirth and MotivationSpirit Lights the Way  and Running Garlic!  I know this has had a positive impact on me because I can see it in the mirror.  My glow is back!

My blogging buddies are my support system.  I hope that my clicking the like button on their blogs and dropping a comment here and there is meeting their love language need.  It’s why we blog on WordPress.  We are all looking for community support.   Otherwise we would be writing  in our diaries and keeping our thoughts and feelings under lock and key.

If you do not know someones love language or you use the wrong love language you may as well be speaking a foreign language to them.  You owe it to yourself and to those whom you love to take a few minutes and learn their love language.  Your relationships will be better for it…it will be the best pre-marital advice you  get, it could save a relationship that is on the brink of disaster.  For heavens sake you could figure out how to talk to your teenager and have them talk back  respond to you.  You might even be able to win over that over bearing person in your life by learning a new language, their language of love.

I am wondering how you interpret your stats?  Do they equate to your love language?

love is…

Happy Valentines Day!

Happy Anniversary to my sweet husband!

Happy Birthday Sis!

Love is…more than a feeling!

Love is…

patient and kind…

it is not jealous, boastful, proud or rude…

it does not demand its own way…

it is not irritable or keep a record of being wronged…

it always protects, trusts and hopes…

Love never fails!

I wish I could say that I follow this beautiful ideal of what love is all the time.  However, I am not always patient or kind.  I sometimes am boastful and demand my own way and yes I am irritable from time to time.  However, I am not jealous or rude.  I am a protector by nature.  I trust most people to a fault.  I always hope. I believe that true love never fails.
